Thanks
Paige

1. Do you consider yourself religious?Yes I do
2. Are you a member of, or drawn to a particular faith (religion, or sect)?I am a member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints
3. Are you interested in politics?somewhat
4. Do you feel that you are well informed of what is going on in the world, politically?not as well as I could be but I do know some things
5. Do you watch the news on TV? If so, what channel(s)?NBC
6. Do you read a newspaper? If so, which one(s)?not really, read the news on msn,and use south idaho press for local
7. Do you read news on the internet? If so, where do you read it?MSN
8. What would you rather read, a non-fiction book or a fictional book?Fictional
9. Have you ever read a book about politics?Yes, sadly
10. What is your view on abortion?I feel abortion should only be used in case of rape or incest, abortion by its very nature devalues the sanctity of life.
11. What is your view on the death penalty?I believe there are two crimes where something is taken that cant be given back, I also believe in these instances the person who took these things that can never be replaced forfiets his own right to those things.
12. What is your view on welfare?welfare is a great idea, but the methodology that drives the welfare beast sucks. They penalize people for trying to be independent and I can say that because I recieved a form of welfare for three years.
13. What are your views on public education?I think college should be public education, this would dramatically cut costs I always find it ironic that you have to allready have a good job to earn a degree, when you want the degree so you can have a good job.
14. Do you feel that you are a member of a specific political party? If so which one?No, infact I feel that party politics is not what our founding fathers had in mind. because both parties have their own platforms and ideas they want implimented, the truth is the whole idea of government was for those in the office to serve the people and not their own interestes.
15. How do you feel about so many children being “latch key” children?I believe that in a home where both parents work you see two side effects one negative the other positive. the positive being the children are becoming more independent better able to think for themselves and make decisions most of the time, the downside however theres a lack of values instilled in the home, kids turn to their friends, or television to learn ethics and values and this lack of a core is what is causing a decline in ethics and standards worldwide.
16. Do you believe the war is ever an okay way to solve a problem?war is never an ok way to solve the problem but sometimes its nessisary. if you have two sides that desire two different things each one at the cost of the other, there is always the possibility that a peaceful and reasonable outcome can be acheived, until one side stops listening to reason,or becomes hostile and agressive, this action is what necessitates military response.
17. Please tell the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about these words:
a. Slavery:creulty and barbarism
b. Terrorist:honorless coward
c. Hitler:psychotic military genius
d. Teachers:under paid educators
e. Science:discovery and learning
f. Earth:the planet we live on
18. How do you feel about “global warming”? Do you believe that it can be stopped?I believe in taking care of the environment, but I also believe that if building my house kills an otter, that otter will either die or find a new habitat, darwin supported this but environmentalists dont seem to get it, its called the adapt or die principle.
19. Do you consider yourself overall “smart”.fairly.
20. How many Jews do you believe were killed in World War II? they were killed in the thousands but I dont know the exact number.
21. Give your own personal definition of “tolerance”.
Tolerance means I dont have to agree with your opinion, but I do have to recognize that you are entitled to it, and it doesnt make either of us stupid or wrong it just means we dont see things the same way.

I will clarify for y'all:
A "latch key" kid would be a kid who comes home from school and there isn't a parent there because they are working. Not like a once in a while thing, but every day. Some kids don't have parents at home with them.

1. Do you consider yourself religious? No
2. Are you a member of, or drawn to a particular faith (religion, or sect)? No
3. Are you interested in politics? Yes
4. Do you feel that you are well informed of what is going on in the world, politically? For the most part.
5. Do you watch the news on TV? If so, what channel(s)? Mostly local channels (WMUR Channel Boston and WNDS Derry, NH)
6. Do you read a newspaper? If so, which one(s)? Local, again. Sometimes USA Today when we read it in class.
7. Do you read news on the internet? If so, where do you read it? AOL news or if I want to know about something in particular I google it and read whatever I come up with.
8. What would you rather read, a non-fiction book or a fictional book? Fictional
9. Have you ever read a book about politics? yeah
10. What is your view on abortion? I believe it's a woman's right to make her own decision about her body.
11. What is your view on the death penalty? If they're never gonna get out of jail, anyway, they're just wasting our tax money by being in there. I do believe DNA evidence, confession or some other indisputable evidence should be reqired to make sure we aren't killing innocent people. We need to be SURE they did it. Also, I say they should just be shot because a leathal injection costs hundreds of thousands of dollars where as a bullet cost a few cents.
12. What is your view on welfare? get rid of it. It shouldn't be up to the government to bail adults out of debt with other people's money. I earn my paycheck. I don't want it going to some low-life without a job who can't keep her legs shut. People who really deserve welfare should have charities set up for them. Then people can decide themselves if they want to give their paycheck away or keep it.
13. What are your views on public education? We need better teachers. Instead of spending so much money on testing the kids, the government should be testing teaching students and paying off college debts for really good teachers to encourage the teachers to go into that field and work really hard with their training to become the best teachers possible. They also should be able to fire bad teachers. Screw unions.
14. Do you feel that you are a member of a specific political party? If so which one? Libertarian
15. How do you feel about so many children being “latch key” children? It's sad. The cost of living in America today is outrageous. It's tearing families apart by making it nessacary that both parents work 40+ hours a week. It's horrible.
16. Do you believe the war is ever an okay way to solve a problem? Sometimes war is required to keep peace. The War in Iraq should have never happened, however. It shouldn't be our responsibility to go around "freeing the world". If we HAVE to fight, and only then should we go to war. I do reconize, however, that now we're in Iraq we can't just leave them until we've cleaned up our mess.
17. Please tell the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about these words:
a. Slavery: Egyptians
b. Terrorist: bin Laden
c. Hitler: Germany
d. Teachers: underpaid
e. Science: math
f. Earth: mars
18. How do you feel about “global warming”? Do you believe that it can be stopped? I don't believe it exists. I do think we should stop polluting the environment, but I think "global warming" is just a natural shift in the Earth's climate, and a tiny one at that compared to NATURAL shifts in the past.
19. Do you consider yourself overall “smart”. yeah
20. How many Jews do you believe were killed in World War II? a few million
21. Give your own personal definition of “tolerance”. Realizing that people have different believes than you and respecting that and making sure you do your research and fully explore all sides of an argument before forming your own belief. I mean, you can be as brutal as you want in debates, as long as you're presenting evidence and attempting to change the person's belief(or just attempting to get them to understand yours) by presenting solid evidence and not just saying "I'm right, you're wrong and that's all there is to it".

1. Do you consider yourself religious? Not at all.
2. Are you a member of, or drawn to a particular faith (religion, or sect)? Nope.
3. Are you interested in politics? Only enduring issues.
4. Do you feel that you are well informed of what is going on in the world, politically? I haven’t kept up with the news since June of 2004.
5. Do you watch the news on TV? If so, what channel(s)? See previous response.
6. Do you read a newspaper? If so, which one(s)? I don’t.
7. Do you read news on the internet? If so, where do you read it? I used to.
8. What would you rather read, a non-fiction book or a fictional book? It depends. Usually the former--it’s less of a waste of time.
9. Have you ever read a book about politics? I have.
10. What is your view on abortion? In my ideal society, the killing of a fetus would be treated much like the killing of an older child--it would be legal but nobody would ever get one because nearly everyone would be compassionate and rational. For the time being, I'd like it to be illegal except in cases where the woman's life is threatened. This is for two reasons: one, a fetus is merely a less developed version of an adult and in this society, the vast majority of people wont necessarily respect this; two, illegalizing abortion will drive more people into poverty (they'd have to care for kids and such) and will thus make them more likely to revolt against the government.
11. What is your view on the death penalty? I'm against it, as it's brutal and unnecessary.
12. What is your view on welfare? At present, I'd like to see it abolished, as the abolition of welfare will likely drive the working class to the brink of revolution. In the future, I wouldn't like it to exist either--by then the majority will be so generous there'll be no need to have the poor enslave the rich in order to prevent the poor from being enslaved by the rich.
13. What are your views on public education? (I'm assuming you're referring to government-funded education) For now, I'm in favor of making it as good as possible, which would involve tripling teachers' salaries, thus enticing the best students to go into the field of education (better education students lead to better teachers, which leads to better students). I support this because in order for the working class to revolt in exactly the way they ought to, they must be able to read and understand what others have to say. In my ideal society, however, government-funded education would not exist, as in such a society there would be no government.
14. Do you feel that you are a member of a specific political party? If so which one? Nope.
15. How do you feel about so many children being “latch key” children? I don't see it as too much of a problem.
16. Do you believe the war is ever an okay way to solve a problem? It can be.
17. Please tell the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about these words:
a. Slavery: whipping
b. Terrorist: Osama bin Laden
c. Hitler: Jews
d. Teachers: Straight-up-PhD...sorry, inside joke.
e. Science: teacher--oh wait, that could've been influenced by the previous one...
f. Earth: science
18. How do you feel about “global warming”? Do you believe that it can be stopped? I believe it can and should be halted. Oh yeah, and it exists.
19. Do you consider yourself overall “smart”. I don't. Most people do.
20. How many Jews do you believe were killed in World War II? (Don’t you be cheating.) I believe it was somewhere between five and thirty million....
21. Give your own personal definition of “tolerance”. To tolerate something is to allow its existence.

4. Do you feel that you are well informed of what is going on in the world, politically? Somewhat. The United States doesn't do a very good job at letting us, citizens, on what's going on in the world. Lately, there's just been so much propaganda.

8. What would you rather read, a non-fiction book or a fictional book? I would read either.
9. Have you ever read a book about politics? No.. the thought bores me.

Slavery is just part of some of the world's cultures... and we can't change that. Culture is mighty hard to change.. People don't like to change tradition.. and they would die to protect their traditions.
b. Terrorist: Someone who feels that terrorizing another race/group/country to gain a higher place in their religion/group/belief. They believe it's right and their leader/God/Gods would look highly upon them.
c. Hitler: Astonishing man.. he would have been a great leader for Germany if he didn't expand his boarders...
d. Teachers: Are great.. they are necessary in teaching the future of the world's adults.
e. Science: The answer to everything.
f. Earth: Where we live.

Got this in an E-mail from someone, thanks whoever!

1. Do you consider yourself religious? No
2. Are you a member of, or drawn to a particular faith (religion, or sect)? Atheism, so no
3. Are you interested in politics? Of course
4. Do you feel that you are well informed of what is going on in the world, politically? Thanks to non-profit, independent media, yes.
5. Do you watch the news on TV? If so, what channel(s)? Occasionally CNN, always local news as well. Mostly Human Interest stuff where I live though.
6. Do you read a newspaper? If so, which one(s)? Only local
7. Do you read news on the internet? If so, where do you read it? Yes, Underground Action Alliance linked sites where I read the featured stories and other stories. They're often more mainstream publication sites such as for the NY Times. I also frequent the Pittsburgh Independent Media Center site.
8. What would you rather read, a non-fiction book or a fictional book? Both I love to read.
9. Have you ever read a book about politics? Yes
10. What is your view on abortion? I support it because A) if an organism is not capable is of breathing and other basic life processes (not included is say, feeding yourself), then I feel it is the caregiver's right to choose to terminate said organism, including people in vegetative states on respirators. It's the caregiver's call. B) I feel that if abortions were illegal, the rich would simply go to another country to get them, whereas the poor would go to back alleys and risk damage, infection and death. Making abortions illegal won't make them go away and it will merely put people in danger, granted because of their own poor choices. C) This varies by religion, but I do not believe that the fetus is truly a living thing.
Also be aware that I myself would not get an abortion, I am an existentialist and I feel that people are completely in control of their own choices and must then live up to the consequences of these choices. Therefore, I do not have unprotected sex, and recognize that pregnancy, STDs and other consequences are their and that I will deal with them.

11. Oops, it got deleted, it was death penalty I think: I do not support the death penalty, it is more expensive than life-long incarceration, death-row inmates cannot work to help pay for their upkeep or restitution to the family and they are ALIVE. It costs around 2 million dollars to execute, a half million to imprison. The government, which can't even collect taxes properly, should not have the right to say who dies and who lives. Being alive is not a privilege to be handed out for good behavior, it's a right. I know this may seem to contradict my abortion views, but again, remember I do not believe the fetus is alive. However, it is important that crimes punishable by death penalty receive life sentences, and true life sentences. The incarcerated should be there until he or she dies and without a chance at parole. I do find it interesting that those who claim to be pro-life on abortion support the death penalty. But that's their decision.

12. What is your view on welfare? It's tricky. I like the idea of communism though I know it does not practically work due to human nature. I do feel it's wrong when people have millions of dollars and children starve. This deals with the working poor as well: the poor who make too much to be on welfare, but not enough to survive. It's all so very confusing. The rich should be taxed far more (and this will probably cause a raise in taxes for myself and my parents as well) and the money used for weaker government programs.
13. What are your views on public education? It needs to be better, cut army spending and tax the rich to get more funds.
14. Do you feel that you are a member of a specific political party? If so which one? No, I'm independent, I share views with the green party, libertarians and democrats. Even a few individual things with the Republicans. Though they're few and far between.
15. How do you feel about so many children being “latch key” children? I think it's wrong, but it's the parent's choice depending on their own likes and financial situation. My best friend is one and she's always so lonely.
16. Do you believe the war is ever an okay way to solve a problem? Rarely.
17. Please tell the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about these words:
a. Slavery: Civil War
b. Terrorist: Bush
c. Hitler:EVIL
d. Teachers: Underpaid
e. Science: Fun
f. Earth: In trouble
18. How do you feel about “global warming”? Do you believe that it can be stopped? I believe it's part of a natural cycle in the earth. And if it isn't then we're screwed and it's our own fault anyway
19. Do you consider yourself overall “smart”. Cumulative GPA of 4.166, in all honors and AP classes, first in my class, read all the time, and know enough not to dedicate myself strictly to my mind and so I row for a release. Sure why not.
20. How many Jews do you believe were killed in World War II? (Don’t you be cheating.) Far too many, I've heard estimates ranging from 6mil, up to 14 or 15 mil or higher if you consider not just concentration camps but other ways of killing. Then consider the non-Jews killed for helping Jews. But strictly looking at Jews: I'll go with 10 mil at a minimum. Stalin killed a lot more, 50 mil of his own people.
21. Give your own personal definition of “tolerance”. You can look at other people and realize that they're different from you, and that that's ok. And you then treat them just like you would treat any other person of your own specific group (race, socio-economic, religion, etc.)
